The video titled "George Washington: The First President of the United States | Biography" offers a look at how George Washington shaped the American presidency and laid the foundation for the nation's highest office.
Military Leadership: Washington gained national prominence as the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, earning widespread respect for his leadership and resilience.
Reluctant Leader: Despite his popularity, Washington was initially hesitant to assume political power, valuing his privacy and wary of monarchy-like authority.
Presidency & Precedents: Elected unanimously in 1789, he became the first U.S. president. He established vital traditions—including the two-term limit, a nonpartisan approach to governance, and the formation of a presidential cabinet.
Legacy of Unity: Washington sought to unify a fledgling nation, warned against partisan divisions and foreign entanglements, and voluntarily stepped down from power—cementing his image as a selfless statesman.
His leadership during uncertain times helped stabilize the early republic and continues to influence how presidential power is understood today even though we are seeing less of what our Fore Fathers envisioned.
One of Washingtons memorable quotes:
“If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”
The video “George Washington’s Vision For America” explores the farewell message Washington delivered in his 1783 Circular to the States after retiring as General of the Continental Army.
Unity above factions: Washington urged the states to see themselves as one nation.
Public virtue and morality: He believed a successful republic depended on the virtue and moral conduct of its citizens and leaders.
Education and knowledge: Washington stressed the importance of widespread education and informed civic engagement as pillars of a lasting democracy.
National defense and moderation: He advocated for a strong but restrained military and the dangers of overreliance on force or foreign alliances.
The Role of the Document: It explains how the Declaration of Independence, drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson, was a revolutionary statement asserting the equality of all men and the right to self-govern.
The Bill of Rights (first 10 amendments to the U.S. Constitution) serves to protect individual liberties from federal infringement.
It reinforces core democratic principles, such as freedom of speech, religion, due process, and protection from unreasonable searches and seizures.
Lincoln’s Determination: The video highlights Lincoln’s moral and political resolve to ensure that slavery would be permanently abolished—not just ended by wartime measures like the Emancipation Proclamation.
As of today, the buildings have flooded. The facility is unsafe and should be torn down.
I started my posting with the words of one woman who spoke about men and our government suppressing women, the oppression of all peoples who were from a foreign country and refused to give blacks rights that they were intitled to. Now we have a president who does not uphold the Oath that he took, is breaking all laws concerning our rights as a people of the United States and a Supreme Court that will keep enabling his cruel idea of what it is to protect a democracy. I have posted the short video of Caroline Kennedy who has voiced every ones feelings about our freedoms and the democracy that all have fought to keep.
